| Mobile Treatment Plant for Arsenic Trioxide Waste Commissioned in Western Australia |
|
DMX's Mobile Treatment Plant Processing Arsenic Waste The contract is to treat the current stockpile of arsenic trioxide-contaminated waste (approximately 1.5 years production) plus the next 3 years ongoing production. The stockpile is scheduled to be treated during the first half of FY 2009. The ongoing production will be treated in regular campaigns over the next three years. DMX will process the material using DMX’s specially designed batching and processing equipment alongside DMX’s Mobile Treatment Plant (MTP). The process will occur on site and will use Dolocrete®. The use of the company's Dolocrete® Encapsulation Technology allows toxic wastes to be converted into safe inert materials. Arsenic trioxide is a highly toxic substance, produced as a by-product from various forms of mineral processing. It is produced in very large quantities globally; commonly by the gold, tin and copper extraction industries and from wood treatment operations. DMX's Dolocrete® technology has proven, in rigorous laboratory and field trials to be highly effective in the solidification and immobilisation of this waste stream. This safe, cost effective process is available to be commissioned in any site around the world ABOUT DMX DMX leads the market with superior technologies for the destruction of environmentally hazardous wastes, resource recovery of fluorescent and halogen lamps, discarded metal and plastic packaging. DMX also offers specialist recycling and chemical handling services to Industry and Government. |
