DoloMatrix - Helping to Save the Environment through Greenhouse Gas Reduction


Greenhouse gases caused by heavy traffic

 

The DoloMatrix group of companies is dedicated to the improvement of the global environment. Through our patented Plascon® waste destruction technology; we are making a viable contribution in reducing greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. In the last financial year, Plascon® technology was used to eliminate a quantity of greenhouse gases, equivalent to the CO2 released by almost 1 million medium sized cars.

Elimination of Potent Greenhouse Gases by DoloMatrix

SRL Plasma Pty Ltd, a DoloMatrix company, is a leader in the destruction of potent non-CO2, greenhouse gases using its state of the art, Plascon® waste destruction technology. The Plascon® technology is used by SRL Plasma and is also provided around the World, to other companies for the elimination of green house gases such as refrigerants and the byproducts of the manufacture of refrigerants.

During the last financial yea,r SRL Plasma’s plant in Victoria, Australia, destroyed 460 tonnes of refrigerant gas, predominantly R-22 which has a global warming potential (GWP) 1,700 times higher than that of CO2.  In total the plant eliminated greenhouse gases with a carbon dioxide equivalent (CDE) of over 1,500,000 tonnes. To put this in perspective:  the average medium sized car produces about 4 tons of CO2 per year, so Tottenham's effort is equivalent to a reduction of about 375,000 cars for one year.

Plascon® Supplied Worldwide to Industry

Additionally, SRL Plasma has supplied a Plascon® plant to Quimobásicos S.A. de C.V to work as an inline process in the elimination of R-23 (HCFC-23), a byproduct of the production of R-22 refrigerant gas. This successfull project is to be augmented in 2008 with the installation of a second Plascon® plant. The table below shows an estimate of greenhouse gas reductions achieved through the operation of the Plascon® technology around the World.

In addition to provision, installation and support of the Plascon® waste treatment plants, SRL Plasma and DoloMatrix can provide assessment and advice regarding eligibility and for funding under Clean Development Mechanisms (CDMs) or other carbon trading schemes.

We continue to strive to find new applications for our technology in the race to slow down and reverse the effects of greenhouse gases on global warming. We are providing real world, practical solutions in a cost effective and timely manner.

Calculating Carbon Offsets

In addition to the physical destruction of greenhouse gases by Plascon®, through Entech's total waste management software product, TWM®, the Dolomatrix group is providing its clients with the ability to calculate carbon offsets, to be counted as CERs and to be redeemable on international carbon exchanges. This applies not only to the actual direct elimination of greenhouse agents, but also to reductions achieved through reuse and recycling of materials and other waste minimisation initiatives.
